The Wuling Sixiu – May 17 – 19, 2013
Come with us in May and visit the tree from the Taiwan Adventures logo! We’ll be climbing two 3000+ meter mountains, and with a bit of luck get some stunning views of the famous tree and more.
The Wuling Sixiu is a set of four high mountains that can be completed as a circular route beginning and ending at Wuling Farm. We will be climbing Chiyou and Pintian mountains over the weekend, and we should get to see a lot of rhododendrons at this time of year, too.

Jialuo Lake Hiking and Camping Trip – May 25, 26, 2013
Taiwan Adventures is leading another overnight hiking/camping trip! This one is to Jialuo Lake, in the mountains of Yilan County. This hike is one of our personal favorites and an all round stunning trip. Camping out under the stars by the lake is a real treat, and there are plenty of trails to explore for those who still have energy after the tough hike up!

Shuiyang Lake Camping Hike – June 14, 15, 16, 2013
In June we’ll head back down south again for a great weekend hike to the Shuiyang Forest Lake (水漾森林) (AKA Earthquake Lake). The forest was flooded after an earthquake and a rock slide left the trees standing, half submerged and eerily beautiful.
Though novice hikers might find it a bit difficult, this is a good hike for moderate level hikers. The hike begins on an old forestry road that’s relatively easy to walk (~3hrs), then heads up a very steep slope that requires some rope work. Then it’s another 2hrs or so though a beautiful forest to the lake.
Snow Mountain – June 28, 29, 30, 2013
We’re planning another hiking trip to Snow Mountain in June, 2013. While there probably won’t be any snow on the mountain at this time of year, the mountain is beautiful, and it’s a great way to escape the summer heat in the cities. This will also be our last hike to Snow Mountain until the fall, so get in on it while you can!
Snow Mountain is Taiwan’s second highest mountain and one of the most beautiful. On the way to the peak, we’ll cross another one of Taiwan’s top 100 peaks, Snow East, and pass through the beautiful Black Forest before climbing the alpine cirque to reach the main peak.
This is an OVERNIGHT trip leaving Taipei on Friday June 28th and returning to Taipei on Sunday June 30th. We’ll spend two nights sleeping in rugged cabins on the mountain.
Although the hike doesn’t require any technical climbing ability, it is in the high mountains and is a VERY TOUGH HIKE, especially if there’s a lot of snow. You will be expected to help carry some of the group’s equipment as well as your own. Please consider your ability before signing up.

Jiaming Lake – July 6, 7, 8, 9, 2013
Jiaming Lake is a large elliptical lake in the high mountains of southern Tawian. Once thought to be created by a meteor strike, it has since been shown to be of glacial origins. On the way to the lake we’ll climb two of Taiwan’s top 100 hundred mountains.
This is an OVERNIGHT trip leaving Taipei on Saturday July 6th and returning on Tuesday July 9th. We’ll spend one night camping at Xiangyang and two nights on the mountains in a basic cabins. We are giving ourselves a lot of time for this hike because this really is one of the most beautiful places in Taiwan, and when we get up there we want to have time to enjoy it!
Although the hike doesn’t require any technical climbing ability, it is in the high mountains and is a TOUGH HIKE. You will be expected to help carry some of the group’s equipment as well as your own. Please consider your ability before signing up.

Taroko Gorge: Zhuilu Cliffs, White Water Rafting, and Ami Harvest Festival! – July 12, 13, 14, 2013
Get all your Taiwanese adventure and culture packed into this one weekend!
We be going to the world renowned Taroko Gorge to hike its most awe inspiring trail: the Zhuilu “Vertigo” Trail. It’s a meter wide path a 500 meter cliff above…and below it! See the gorge like few others do on this limited access trail.
Then, party with the local aboriginal Amis tribe for their biggest cultural event: The Amis Harvest Festival. It’s a carnival like event with thousands of aboriginals dress in traditional clothing, dancing, singing, and celebrating. Outsiders are warmly welcomed for this yearly event.
If that’s not enough, we’ll also spend a day white water rafting from the rift valley to the east coast through one of the most unique valleys in Taiwan.
