This is an awesome 3 day/2 night trek to Mt Qilai, one of Taiwan’s top 100 mountains (百岳) at 3607m (main peak) and 3560m (north peak).
Qilai Main Peak is a tough hike so it’s very important to assess your fitness before signing up. We’ll only take people with extensive hiking experience as it’ll be a very long, hard second day.
***PRICE***
Cost for this hike is $8,500NTD.
****ITINERARY****
Monday 12th, July – Meet at 9.30am in Taipei at Wanlong MRT Station Exit 2. Please be on time! From there we’ll drive south to Hehuanshan. It’s about a 4 hour drive to the trailhead. We’ll stop for a chance for you to buy lunch on the way. From the trailhead we’ll hike for 2-3 hours to the Chenggong Cabin where we’ll have dinner and sleep for the night.
Tuesday 13th, July – Up around 4am for breakfast. We’ll leave about 5am with only day packs (or mostly empty packs) and head for Qilai Main Peak. It’s a tough climb from the cabin up to the ridge and to the Qilai Cabin. From there we hike out about 2 hours to Qilai Main peak. After summiting Qilai Main Peak we’ll return to the Qilai Cabin. Depending on weather conditions, group fitness and timing the leader (us) will decide whether or not to attempt Qilai North Peak (a far more technical climb).
By signing up for this hike you agree to abide by the leader’s decision.
Wednesday 14th, July – Breakfast around 6am and hike out to the trailhead (3 hours). Drive back to Taipei stopping at 7-11 for snacks.
